Towers on the Grove and specifically, Cherry Grove is gorgeous. It erupts out of the sand on the very popular cherry grove portion of Myrtle Beach. It’s finished in art deco. It has a tropical pool deck, lazy rivers and private beach access. It makes for one of the Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Hotels and a very nice family vacation. They have one, two and three bedroom condos, full kitchens and a state of the art fitness center. It’s like a home away from home (except you can spend it on the ocean). So, if you’re like me, you don’t get to sit on your balcony and watch the sun rise over the water. That’s why they call it vacation and that’s our philosophy at via cancun: take your journey with a vacation mindset!

When considering a Myrtle Beach Accommodation or Myrtle Beach Hotel, especially with a large group, the Horizon Resort is certainly worth a look. They don’t show many choices for dining but they are located near dining and shopping facilities. The nice part is that you have a kitchen so you can stock it with food and drinks,bring home left overs from the restaurants and enjoy your room a little more. I find this feature particular attractive if you have children. My kids still take naps and require much active monitoring. It’s nice to be able to confine them to a room, throw in a Dora the Explorer CD and enjoy and ice cold beer or glass of wine on the balcony with a great view.

Anyway, take a look at the Horizon Resort if you need a suite or are traveling with a group. Suites can save money, give you more dining options and give you a more relaxing and at home feel on vacation. I’ve had suites with my family and when traveling with other couples. I was happy with the choice to get a suite with a kitchen every time.

• Nibils Restaurant at Surfside Pier is one of the most reviews and a favorite amount tourists and locals. You have to love a place with good food, friendly service and great atmosphere!
• Rockefellers North Myrtle Beach is very seafood oriented southern style; shrimp and grits for example. Of course, you can also get surf and turf, catfish, flounder, shrimp, grouper, and crab cakes. When I go, I’ll try the steam pot with Lobster. They’re famous for the steam kettles. I love a good seafood medially with crawfish, oysters, crab legs, shrimp and mussels. Mix it in with a little corn on the cob and fresh lobster…  it’s a feast! They also have a raw bar. As long as the oysters are fresh (very fresh), I’d give it a shot but I always ask. The best oysters are cold water oysters so your hope is that they fly in the oysters from the Northeast daily. I’ve had good ones from other regions and will try them if they’re fresh but I definitely prefer cold water oysters.

Just Main is open to the public. The cuisine is what you might expect on the water: plenty of seafood mixed with various pastas, marinated, battered and served to your liking.

Sip N Dip is the pool and or beach bar. Great place to get a snack, salad, ice cold beer or a frozen treat. They have burgers, fries, jalapeno poppers, nachos, grilled chicken breast and salads. Good place to eat lunch if you’re taking a beach day or getting some sun by the pool.

Tree Top Lounge is on the fourth floor. It’s more of a bar than a restaurant but it’s all about social atmosphere and a good place for happy hour which runs from 4-6 PM! Hopefully, it is close to one of the Oceanfront Myrtle Beach Resorts you end up staying in!
